In recognition, the school of construction management will be named after Tridel Chairman and CEO, Angelo Del Zotto. George Brown College announces naming of Angelo Del Zotto School of Construction Management

TORONTO, May 9, 2013 /CNW/ – The George Brown College Foundation announced today that Tridel Corporation has pledged a gift of $3 million to George Brown College’s Success at Work fundraising campaign. The donation will be directed towards the renovation and repurposing of learning spaces in the college’s Centre for Construction and Engineering Technologies at its Casa Loma campus.

In recognition of this donation, the college’s construction management school will be named the Angelo Del Zotto School of Construction Management. Angelo Del Zotto serves as Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Tridel Group of Companies and Tridel Corporation.

“We are honoured to be associated with Tridel and with Angelo Del Zotto,” said Anne Sado, President of George Brown College. “Tridel is a strong supporter of post-secondary education and has played a particularly impactful role encouraging young people entering the construction industry. Mr. Del Zotto embodies the values we try to instill in our students – honour, integrity and honesty.”

Tridel is a long-standing partner of George Brown College, and has supported the college and its students in areas such as graduate recruitment, research and raising funds for scholarships. Through its charitable foundation, B.O.L.T. (Building Opportunities for Life Today) program, Tridel has partnered with George Brown’s Centre for Construction and Engineering Technologies (CCET) and other organizations to connect priority youth to careers in the construction field with direct scholarship funding to support their education in construction-related programs.

The Tridel gift supports Success at Work, an ambitious $60 million private sector fundraising campaign to support the college’s $250 million expansion vision. This comprehensive, multi-year campaign aims to raise funds to support student learning and capital growth.

Two Old Mill Construction Update for April 2013

Your community is starting to take shape with the bulk of the excavation for Two Old Mill at 90% complete. The caisson wall and tiebacks, which are part of the excavation support system, are now 100% complete. Our construction teams will soon be able to start pouring the base level of the community referred to as the “Slab on Grade.”

One Old Mill Construction Update for April 2013

Excavation of the One Old Mill site is now 100% complete. Our construction teams have completed the concrete pour of the P3 & P2 parking levels, currently working on the P1 level. About 10% of the perimeter walls and columns to the ground floor have been poured. The storm drains and sanitary lines have also started underground.

Blythwood at Huntington Construction Update for April 2013

Our construction teams are now finishing the concrete pour on the roof of the Blythwood at Huntington community. Precast (the exterior skin of the building) is complete up to the 4^th floor within the interior courtyard and ground floor at the main entrance of the community. Window installations have started on the ground floor, interior finishings such as drywall are being installed on the 3^rd floor corridor and plumbing and electrical rough ins are at the 6^th floor.

Alto and Parkside at Atria Construction Update April 2013

With the shoring permit received for Alto and Parkside at Atria, our construction teams have brought the drill rig on site. The drill rig is for the shoring system and foundation for the community. We anticipate drilling to begin within the next few weeks, as there is site prep needed. You will begin to see all kinds of machinery and material showing up onsite as we are gearing up excavation.

West Village April 2013 Construction Update

Our Construction Teams are currently creating the elevator machine room and parapet / fire walls located on the roof of West Village Tower 1. Our teams are also pouring concrete on the 25th floor for Tower 2. The precast for Tower 1 is now complete up to the 13th floor, windows are being installed on the 9th and drywall is on the 10th floor. Interior finishes such as interior stud work is on the 6th floor and plumbing and electrical work is on the 4th floor.

The precast for Tower 2 is on the 9^th floor, window installations are on the 4^th floor and drywall has started on the ground floor.

The West Village Community will be attempting to achieve LEED Gold status.
