THE HEAT IS GETTING TURNED UP ON TORONTO’S HOTTEST NEIGHBOURHOOD- YONGE & EGLINTON

RETURN

June 19, 2012

Though closely linked to the downtown core, Yonge and Eglinton has a vibe all its own. The midtown neighbourhood exudes cosmopolitan flair, yet still retains a community feel where you can walk the dog, leisurely window-shop or sip a beverage on an outdoor patio.  Long after office hours end, you’ll still find the streets animated as pedestrians stroll, diners drop in for a meal at their favourite restaurant and movie-goers make their way to catch the latest blockbuster at one of two local cinemas.

With its host of great eateries and dynamic retail core including brand-name boutique shops, it’s little wonder Yonge and Eglinton has become so popular with young professionals. Families love the neighbourhood too, as just steps from the vibrant intersection that defines Yonge and Eglinton, there are quiet streets suited to raising kids.

With all this neighbourhood has going for it, it’s no surprise that when leading GTA condo builder Tridel completed the Republic condominiums in 2010, (and constructed the stunning new eco-friendly North Toronto Collegiate Institute school next door) it was a resounding success with both towers selling out.

Looking to repeat the success of the Republic and to provide even more opportunities for people to live in this highly desirable neighbourhood, Tridel has partnered with prominent Toronto apartment landlord Beaux Properties to launch 101 Erskine. The Erskine property and the adjacent 357-unit residential apartment building on Broadway have been proudly owned and managed by the Birnboim family under the Beaux Properties name for several decades; a long time stake holder and a valuable member of this mid-town community.

Beaux Properties’ involvement  in real estate ownership and management spans three generations and has evolved from humble beginnings in Winnipeg, Manitoba into a multi-faceted real estate investment, management and development company with commercial and residential real estate holdings throughout North America and abroad.

The smartly tailored glass tower and 10 distinctive townhomes at 101 Erskine Avenue designed by CS&P Architects, the same firm that designed the Republic and North Toronto Collegiate Institute, will be in the same venerable neighbourhood on a quiet, tree-lined street, just one block north of Broadway Avenue. The building architecture features modernist sensibilities with a clean linear silhouette and contrasting tonal profile while refined interiors of charcoal, white and clear glass mirror the sophistication of the neighbourhood.

Almost anything you could want or need – grocery stores, restaurants, parks, banks and much more – is just a short stroll away. In fact, the neighbourhood is a walker’s paradise with a Walk Score of 95 out of 100. If you do need to venture farther afield, the Yonge subway line is conveniently close by.

When it’s time to play, you can swing a tennis racquet, kick a soccer ball, swim at the nearby North Toronto Memorial Community Centre or exercise your pooch in the dog-friendly park that extends from Eglinton to Roselawn.

As much as the neighbourhood has to offer, residents at 101 Erskine won’t have to wander beyond their own decadent lobby as a wealth of amenities designed by Union 31 will be housed right in the building. A stunning rooftop patio on the 6th floor offers a retreat from the bustle of the city where residents can cool off in the infinity pool, enjoy a meal cooked on a barbecue or relax with friends around the fireplace in the outdoor lounge. Other amenities include sublime entertainment spaces, private courtyard, alfresco dining lounge and state-of-the-art fitness facilities.

There are plenty of suite styles to choose from, ranging from studios to two bedrooms-plus-den designs, sized from 459 to a spacious 2,012 square feet. The townhomes offer 2,361 to 2,489 square feet of elegant living space. Tentative occupancy is Fall 2015.

It’s a great opportunity to live close to the heart of the action of Yonge and Eglinton while still being able to come home to quiet scenic residential community surroundings.
