Construction progress at this sweet North York Community.
Over near Sheppard Avenue and Victoria Park in North York, construction on the fourth and final phase of the Atria community – Parfait – continues.
The on-site teams are working on the verticals of the 3rd and 4th floors. Verticals are the “vertical” pillars that support the floor above. At the same time, electrical and mechanical rough-ins continue to progress. “Rough ins” refer to the stage of construction when electrical wiring, plumbing, sprinklers and HVAC systems are installed, before suite walls and framing occur.
The next construction milestone for Parfait at Atria will be the completion of the sixth floor podium. Because each floor plate in the podium is different and the footprint is larger than the tower, construction of these floors take more time. In contrast, the tower portion of Parfait features floorplates of similar design on each floor, moving up the building. So, once work of this portion of Parfait begins, construction will proceed quite quickly, with the tower rising at the pace of approximately one floor of concrete per week.
Once complete, Parfait, will stand at 19 storeys and be home to 235 condominium homes.
A Bit of History
One interesting fact about the Atria community is that the site was once home to the Northeast Drive-In Theatre. During excavation, the on-site construction team were reminded of this when they uncovered a large block of concrete they speculate may have been either the base of the old movie screen or one of the large signs which towered above the old Drive-In.
