Au-some start for Tridel in 2021
These two shining communities are located in Toronto’s downtown core, just blocks from one another along Queen Street. Both SQ2 and FORM are vibrant communities in the heart of the city and offer residents state-of-the-art amenities, direct access to transit, boutique shopping along Queen West, the hippest restaurants and galleries in the city, not to mention, schools such as OCAD and UofT.
Now, in addition to stunning architecture and enviable lifestyle amenities, the SQ2 and FORM communities can add Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design to their august attributes.
What is LEED Certification anyway?
LEED is the most commonly used green building rating system and is a proven step toward building more efficient, resilient, and healthy communities, as well as taking action to help reduce impact on the environment.
By targeting LEED Certification before we begin construction on our communities, it means that sustainable practices become part of the building design, construction and operation, so that we can do our part to address climate change.
Curious about the features that contribute to LEED® Gold Certification at SQ2 and FORM?
- Easy access to public transportation within steps from the community – both via streetcar or subway
- Secured bicycle storage spaces for residents and visitors
- In-suite energy recovery ventilations (ERV) that recover energy to reduce heating and cooling costs
- High-efficiency mechanical heating, cooling and domestic hot water equipment
- Low flow plumbing fixtures in suites and common areas resulting in 41% water use reductions
- Energy Star high-efficiency appliances
- 30% additional ventilation provided to suites and amenity spaces for improved indoor air quality
Our Built Green Built for Life Promise
An 11-time winner of BILD’s Green Builder of the Year Award, Tridel is recognized as the industry leader in environmentally-friendly and innovative residential development. Our Built Green Built for Life philosophy is firmly rooted in building quality, sustainable homes for our residents and their communities.
Our commitment to this promise is demonstrated by receiving LEED® Gold certifications at both SQ2 and FORM, but also by our continued efforts toward new innovations in energy efficient technologies and environmental initiatives.
Innovation at FORM
The Clima Canal is a new innovative heating system in place at FORM, designed by Jaga. It is designed to optimize energy efficiency by using low-temperature hydronic heating and low voltage power supply while drawing on the natural properties of hot and cold air. The Jaga Canals are cast into the concrete of the floor near the windows, eliminating the need for a fancoil unit in the interior, thereby maximizing living space in the suite.
When faced with the challenge protecting the public art installation (without obstructing views), and ensuring the local bird population is safe too, we incorporated an innovative solution inspired by nature. A harmonious example of nature and urban planning thriving together, Biomimetic glass provides windows engineered with a ‘spider-web’ of ultra-violet lines imprinted in the glass; almost invisible to the human eye but clearly seen by birds to avoid collision.
They’re electric! The bikes that is…
Green building, sustainability and innovation are core to the Tridel vision, as is keeping up with our purchasers! The shared e-bike program at SQ2 was a pilot to encourage cycling as part of sustainable urban lifestyle, and chance to provide a new lifestyle amenity offering.
Popular in world-class cities, e-bikes offer a lot of benefits and we’re thrilled our homeowners have been enjoying the amazing amenity powered by Elby Mobility.
