A Different Kind of Field Work
On a beautiful autumn evening, a team of Tridel employees, along with a few of their children, ventured north of head office, to take part in a tree planting event. Held in Richmond Hill’s Meander Park, the group worked under the guidance of volunteers from LEAF (Local Enhancement and Appreciation of Forests) to plant over 40 trees. The evening began with some basic tree planting how-to’s and then we were set loose to get to work!
Enhancing The Local Forest
Over time, our urban forests can be adversely affected by a variety of factors, including development. Forests can become older, lacking in younger trees or face a lack of variety in tree species, among other concerns. The goal of this evening’s event was to help combat those concerns and enrich the neighbourhood’s urban forest.
Planting for Tomorrow
Overall, it was a great family event. Too often, we forget to take the time to step outside and appreicate the changing seasons. The LEAF Tree Planting event gave us not only the opportunity to enjoy some fresh air and stunning fall scenery but also to help contribute to the future of those beautiful fall colours. It was a very rewarding evenings work.
