2026 BILD Awards Highlight Tridel's Reputation as the Best of the Best

On the evening of May 28, 2026, the homebuilding industry’s best gathered in one place. The stage was set for the 2026 BILD Awards, yet the story that kept repeating itself was simple. The same name was called to return to the stage. Again and again, applause, and the team would stand, receive their recognition with grace, and return to their seats, only to rise once more.

It wasn’t just a matter of accepting the industry’s highest honours. It felt like a statement. That in a room full of excellence, Tridel was setting the pace. Home Builder of the Year (Mid/High-Rise), Green Builder of the Year (Mid/High-Rise), Best Community – Built (Bayside Toronto by Hines Tridel), Best Customer Care, Stephen Dupuis CSR Award. The entire industry was reminded of who was the best of the best.

Yet, inside the celebration, the focus never shifted away from what actually makes that kind of recognition possible: people. Because most days feel less like accolades. They feel like teams at work, solving problems in real time, refining details no one will ever photograph, making judgment calls that only reveal their value years later. Like designers, construction teams, customer care specialists and sales staff each holding a piece of the responsibility: making sure a home will actually work for the people who live in it.

Awards were never the point. They’re what happens along the way when a way of building homes stays consistent long enough, and disciplined enough, to matter. And what matters is a legacy built over decades, shaped by thousands of individuals who have helped advance an industry. A culture where knowledge is carried forward and accountability is shared across every level of the organization.

For Jim Ritchie, President and CEO, the Home Builder of the Year (Mid/High-Rise) award is actually “representative of the amazing employees at Tridel, the leadership team and the ownership. This is representative, more importantly, of what we do for our Tridel homeowners.”

A parallel story can be seen elsewhere. It may have been Tridel’s seventeenth time receiving it, but for Graeme Armster, Director of Innovation and Sustainability, winning Green Builder of the Year (Mid/High-Rise) is about responsibility, that “amongst so many amazing developers doing so many amazing things in the space, it’s truly special to be recognized as one that’s continually leading the charge.”

The recognition extended as the night did. More than a decade in the making, Hines and Tridel’s commitment to transforming Toronto’s waterfront was recognized with Best Community – Built for Bayside Toronto. But for the team, the true honour was in helping bring something extraordinary to the city, a landmark community where architecture and location are in dialogue, reflecting the shape, movement and beauty of the lake it rises beside.

And there was more. Tridel’s commitment to industry leadership, community responsibility and strengthening the social fabric of the city extends beyond homebuilding. It is this broader vision that led to Tridel receiving the Stephen Dupuis Corporate Social Responsibility Award for a second time, affirming not only what is built, but an influence that is felt.

Culture, then, is the word. Holding the award for Best Customer Care, Marc Sammons, Vice President, Customer Care & Warranty Services, says “We know that when customers make this big purchase decision, they put trust in Tridel, they know they’re part of the family. I’m so honoured that our customers have recognized us with this award.”

Taken together, the awards are less a collection of wins and more a reflection of a philosophy lived out by people across the organization. Because while the industry continues to shift - new technologies, new pressures, new expectations - what’s become increasingly clear is that evolution matters, but only when it stays anchored to something more permanent: the people doing the work, and the values they bring to it. Craftsmanship, design integrity, customer care, sustainability, social impact and a deep respect for the lived experience of homeowners.

And that is what the night ultimately reflected: to bring out the best of a home, a community, a neighbourhood, a city, you need the people who build the best.
