Tridel Teams Up With Elby e-bike

To Encourage Cycling As Part Of Sustainable Urban Living

TORONTO, June 5, 2018 – Canada’s leading condominium developer, Tridel, today announced a collaboration with e-bike company Elby to help condo owners overcome traffic frustrations, so they can make their daily commute less stressful, or just get around faster and easier.

After years of popularity in Asia, e-bikes are gaining acceptance in Europe and North America thanks to advances in lithium ion batteries along with economic and environmental market forces. Developing sustainable transportation is a priority in the Greater Toronto Area which is projected to grow by 42 per cent over the next 25 years[1]. While cars still dominate, walking and cycling are on the increase thanks to infrastructure improvements. Ontario has committed $93 million to expand bike lanes in 2018, with Toronto receiving $25.6 million to fund its Ten-Year Cycling Network Plan.

“Given our 80-year history, we understand that a condominium is more than a building, it’s a community itself and part of a broader neighbourhood,” said Jim Ritchie, Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Tridel. “Green building, sustainability and innovation are core to the Tridel vision, as is keeping up with purchasers’ desire for amenities that add value to condo life. Our collaboration with Elby allows us to offer our customers a convenient, energy-efficient, affordable and fun way to navigate the city.”
Elby is widely touted as a great e-bike for commuting, city driving, fitness and leisure activities. Elby is a premium e-bike designed from the ground up and boasts award winning design, premium engineering, and leading safety technology.  Elby has become one of the most popular e-bikes and was named best e-bike of 2017 by Outside Magazine.

“Elby was created specifically for city use with a step-through design that is easy to get on or off (even in work clothes), automotive safety features like powerful hydraulic disc brakes, bright LED lighting and the leading power and range in the industry which goes about 120 kms on one charge,” said Managing Director Scott MacWilliam. “The Elby is a perfect solution for condo buyers looking for a convenient, easy and affordable way to get to work, run errands, visit friends or just get around while avoiding traffic gridlock.  We are excited to team up with Tridel and offer their customers a fun, functional, and future-proof way to move through our cities efficiently and sustainably.”

To kick off their collaboration, Tridel and Elby are holding a contest to give away three e-bikes. Contest details are available at tridel.com/innovation. Prospective condo buyers who want to “Feel Electric” (Elby’s tagline) can also request a referral code at Tridel Presentation Centres for a 15% discount toward the purchase of an Elby e-bike.

While enthusiasts can go on for hours about why it’s a great bike, the best way to experience the benefits of an Elby is to take it for a spin. The convenience, simplicity and joy of riding one is better experienced, not explained. Check out one of the Elby e-bikes on display at the Tridel Presentation Centres below:

“We are excited about the potential of our collaboration with Elby,” added Ritchie. “E-bikes are popular in world-class cities like Paris, Amsterdam and London because they have a lot of benefits. The Elby was specifically designed for urban environments, and we think it’s a great solution for our homeowners.”
