Construction Update - August 2026

Construction at Queen Church continues to make significant progress as the community rises above grade. Removal of the heritage façade retention system has begun, allowing preparations to move forward for the restoration of the existing heritage façade—an important step in preserving and integrating the site's historic character.

Structural work also continues to advance, with forming currently underway on the 5th Floor slab, along with walls and columns.

Looking ahead, window installation is tentatively scheduled to begin in Fall 2026, marking the next stage of building envelope work as construction continues to progress.

To safely accommodate ongoing construction activities, additional temporary lane and sidewalk closures have been approved by the City of Toronto. The northbound lane of Dalhousie Street may be closed daily, alongside the existing southbound closure, until September 14. The westbound lane and sidewalk along Queen Street East, from Dalhousie Street to Church Street, may also be closed daily until September 24. These closures will support the removal of the façade retention system, existing overhead protection and hoarding, followed by the installation of new hoarding, overhead protection and scaffolding required for heritage restoration work.

As construction progresses above grade and restoration of the heritage façade gets underway, Queen Church continues to take shape in the heart of downtown Toronto. We look forward to sharing more milestones as work advances.
