Building Strong Communities: Progress in Alexandra Park and Regent Park

We recently marked two meaningful moments in our long-standing partnership with Toronto Community Housing (TCHC): the opening of a new Atkinson Co‑Operative residence in Alexandra Park and the groundbreaking on the next phase of affordable housing in Regent Park.

A New Residence Opens in Alexandra Park

Tridel’s work in Alexandra Park spans more than a decade. The official opening of the new Atkinson building at 130 Augusta Avenue marks a new chapter for Alexandra Park, and a major step forward for residents and the community revitalization as a whole. Bringing together housing, retail, and public space, the building introduces 103 new affordable and replacement rental homes to the neighbourhood, as well as important community features such as shared outdoor space and an on-site childcare centre.

As with every phase of Alexandra Park, this milestone reflects more than a construction achievement. It represents our dedicated commitment to community economic development and social impact partnerships, as well as years of collaboration and relationship building with residents, the Atkinson Co-Operative, and TCHC.

We’re proud to have supported not only new housing initiatives, but also local programming with the Alexandra Park Community Centre, building partnerships with local entrepreneurs, and enhancing youth opportunities and community spaces such as the revitalization of the multi-sport court and the refinishing of the community basketball court. Collectively these efforts help ensure the benefits of revitalization extend beyond the buildings themselves.

Breaking Ground in Regent Park: A New Phase Begins

On the heels of Alexandra Park opening its doors to welcome residents, we were also excited to reach a significant step forward in Regent Park. Tridel recently joined the City of Toronto, Toronto Community Housing (TCHC), Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) and a number of elected officials to break ground on the first building of Regent Park Phase 4.

This 26-storey tower, located at Gerrard Street E. and Dreamers Way will include 271 affordable homes as well as new indoor and outdoor community spaces as part of the larger plan to continue transforming Regent Park into a thriving mixed-use neighbourhood.

Selected as the Development Partner for Regent Park Phases 4 and 5, this marks the start of Tridel’s third community revitalization in partnership with Toronto Community Housing. We look forward to continuing to deliver thoughtfully-designed homes that strengthen neighbourhoods through sustainable growth.

These two milestones capture what community building means to us. More than just building homes, it’s staying invested in the neighbourhoods we’re part of and working closely with trusted partners, community leaders and residents to support their long-term growth. By focusing on connection, access, and everyday livability, we create healthy, resilient communities where people truly feel at home, and where communities can continue to grow and thrive for years to come.
