3 Design Tips for Brighter Summer Interiors

Summer décor is unique to the season –breezy fabrics, soft colour palettes, natural fibers, and boho influences combine to make it feel like sunshine is being let into your condo.

With summer here to stay, here are some simple tips to bring that airy, summer feeling into your design aesthetic and your condo feel stylish and relaxing for the summer months ahead.

Natural Materials

After a long, grey winter, people eagerly seek out brightness, light, and joy. White fabrics or accessories help brighten up any space while also adding an elevated, modern look. When looking to bring the outdoors in, try combining natural materials – brick, stone or wood – with neutrals tones like – white, beige or cream. For our Sky Penthouse Suite at Aquavista, the Interior Design team created the perfect combination between natural materials and neutral tones by adding wood elements to this stunning white-on-white aesthetic. The neutral colour palette gives this luxurious condo at Bayside a sense of serenity and calm, while keeping the space expansive and reflective of the waterfront views.

Use Breezy Fabrics

Summer days are the perfect excuse to open all your windows and let the breeze bring the wonderful smell of flowers or freshly cut grass into your home. The easiest way to celebrate the longer days is dressing your windows with easy, breezy fabrics.

For curtains, look for fabrics like cotton voile, flax linen, sheer silk, or something similar to insert a light airiness into your home, no matter the time of year. Consider sheer window coverings as a way to keep your rooms feeling brighter and making it look more spacious by maintaining a connection to the outdoors.

Boho Chic

Boho accents are a great option to bring a breath of fresh air into your condo. Implementing bohemian statement pieces to neutral rooms such as, the pair of wire chairs in the image below – will give your condo a casual, fun but yet sophisticated vibe. Plants, woven textiles and splashes of colour – like the green accent wall – are musts for boho chic interior design. These elements will give your condo that personal and relax vibe which is the core of the bohemian aesthetic.
